Wanda L. James became the first Black woman elected to the University of Colorado Board of Regents in over 44 years. A military officer, corporate executive, political consultant, serial entrepreneur, and Drug War warrior, Regent James has made history numerous times during her career.

A Continuation of Advocacy

This milestone for Wanda is a step forward in her efforts to create a more inclusive and diverse educational landscape. She’s honored that the universe placed her here at this time in history. She believes that it is time for people of color to have a permanent seat at all tables of power at every level. Ultimately, pursuing political equity and social justice as a CU regent will require a commitment to listening to and understanding the concerns and needs of all university community members. It will demand taking action to address those concerns in a thoughtful and equitable way. Regent James is up for the job.
